What the World Needs Now. Is One More Blog.

Hello. Let me begin this by stating that I have little to offer. I have no advice on career development, personal finance, physical fitness, teeth whitening, or how to prepare healthy meals that your family will love. I am a miserable failure of varying degrees at all of these things. But I think I can say with confidence that I excel at thrifting. Meaning that (barring any shrieking toddler accompaniment) I can walk into a Salvation Army and walk out with a bunch of crap to trick out a bookshelf that any Pottery Barn merchandiser would envy. For $4. Or I can take a pile of tacky old plastic necklaces, rip them apart and make a new tacky plastic necklace. Not many other people would bother with these pursuits, but I do.

So welcome, welcome to my blog. May you be inspired to:
a) be as cheap as I am.
b) buy stuff from me (that is only a little le
ss cheap).
c) make good stuff cheaply.

To illustrate my point:

We have a lovely old glass front cabinet in our dining room (garage sale - $40) and I like to create little displays on the shelves. Only two things here cost more than a dollar - the milk glass pitcher (an antique store gift from my husband) and the floral platter (which is actually for sale in my etsy shop, though every day I seriously consider unlisting it, because I love it so much). Oh, and that fabric in the background, an Amy Butler stripe that was worth every cent. My apologies for the horrid fuzziness in this photo.

And my latest tacky new/old necklace:

I am currently obsessed with these pale yellow matte beads. And the aqua and brown seem to find their way into everything.

More to come. Thanks for stopping by.
